Are you trying to get a take on Wealthy Affiliate vs Legendary Marketer? Which is best for you, and more importantly, why is it the right choice?
In your quest to understand affiliate marketing and start a successful business, you may have come across these two names:
- Wealthy Affiliate
- Legendary Marketer
These two programs promise to teach you all the ropes of digital marketing and help you make money online.
But honestly, which one should you choose? When trying to decide on Wealthy Affiliate vs Legendary Marketer, there’s a lot to unpack.
I am here to help you decide based on a decade of scar tissue. And as someone with years in the affiliate business and have participated in these courses, I know a few things that you might not be aware of. And equally important, a few things to look out for.
Today, I will compare Wealthy Affiliate and Legendary Marketer and discuss which suits you.
What is Wealthy Affiliate?
Wealthy Affiliate is the true OG of the affiliate world. Founded by Carson and Kyle in 2005, the program aims to transform complete beginners into successful entrepreneurs. The two have run the platform for 17 years and created a community of over 2.6 million members.
With Wealthy Affiliate, you get access to tools such as website building, domain & hosting, 12 training modules with over 500 training videos, custom weekly classes, and 24/7 support from numerous expert coaches. The training is top notch, and you’ll learn how to build a website from scratch and grow from there.
And best of all, you get to join for free with a beginner’s package, then move to a paid monthly subscription when you’re ready.
While the free beginner package doesn’t offer as much compared to the premium and the premium plus subscription, it still provides value and substantial knowledge. For example, you get access to one free website with their SiteRubix platform and ten lessons from their level 1 core training. You can upgrade anytime for more features.
But the core training is very solid, and no other program offers so much free training.
Plus, the two founders communicate daily with members, which is a huge plus. And they offer weekly classes about the latest products and strategies to get you up to date with the industry.
Weekly Classes Taught By Pros
And one of things I like most about the platform are the weekly classes. They have four classes each week, and you can choose which ones you’d like to attend.
They are cutting edge classes taught by seasoned experts. I have been doing this for a decade, and I learn something each week.
Here is a sampling of classes in the week of 1/23/23:

What is Legendary Marketer Program?
Legendary Marketer is a high-ticket course run by David Sharpe and his team. The program has been around since 2017 and has had significant success.
It promises to teach you digital marketing secrets with a 15-day business challenge. It also has other extensive courses such as coaching & consulting, events & masterminds, and digital products business.
Part of its success comes from the hype created by its founder. But unlike Wealthy Affiliate, few people have seen real results from the program.
In fact, having spent hours researching the company, most people who claim to have had success with Legendary Marketer already have some digital marketing chops. Others even had an existing audience before joining the program.
While Sharpe is an experienced digital marketer with over nine years of experience, there is a lot of controversy surrounding him and his previous company, Empower Network. This company was a Multi-Level Marketing and pyramid scheme that went out of business in 2017.
He quit the company (and left his partner) just before it got into trouble and declared bankruptcy. A lot of people lost their money in the process. Pyramid schemes are notorious for exploiting people and enriching only their founders and a few top players.
The Empower Network Debacle
It’s troubling to me personally, as David Sharpe is a very smooth operator. I don’t doubt that his intentions are good. But the Empower Network fiasco was a dark stain, and he needs to own his role in that. He does to some extent, but it’s not to be glossed over! A lot of people got hurt financially.
I was one of the people who lost heavy bank with Empower Network, and I found the two owners to be opportunistic at best. And I learned that character counts, especially when choosing online courses where there is so much sleight of hand.
Actually, the Empower Network description on LinkedIn sounds a lot like Legendary Marketer, making you think this program is not so different. Furthermore, the company has a poor rating on BBB.org, with many complaints about spamming and scamming.
Unlike Wealthy Affiliate, Legendary Marketer is not free and has a significantly higher price tag. You first join the Legendary Marketers’ club, which will cost you $30 monthly. You then start your training using the base package that costs $2,500 and only goes up with every new upsell.
And there are plenty of upsells.
Wealthy Affiliate vs Legendary Marketer Conclusion
Given my experience in the industry, I can say Legendary Marketer is actually not ideal for beginners. It requires you to invest a lot of money upfront (to get to the meat and potatoes), and its business model is quite complex.
And you won’t know if it’s a fit until you are already deep into it. Especially financially.
Additionally, it seems few people have seen any significant success with it, judging by their live videos posted on Facebook.
No Cost for Entry
On the other hand, Wealthy Affiliate is a no-cost entry platform, offers more value for cheaper, and has a decade+ of proven results.
You will likely be better off with it, especially if you’re brand new and getting your feet wet. Plus, you get access to the founders and a vibrant community of like-minded entrepreneurs to help you along the way.
And it’s always best to test drive something as important as this decision to see if it’s a fit for you.
In conclusion, after being in the affiliate marketing space for a decade, I have learned to put a lot of stock in the character of the site owners. The guys at Wealthy Affiliate are solid as they come, and very accessible (which is amazing).
